Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is one of the most effective treatments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). At KIDZ AUTISM AND SPEECH CLINIC, we deliver an evidence based treatment that ensures our clients are being prepared for life beyond the treatment room. Our 1-to-1 sessions will focus on teaching a variety of skills including but not limited to functional living skills such as communication, dressing and grooming that help promote personal independence. We target development in the areas of social skills and motor skills. In addition, we focus on developing play/leisure skills as well as academics. We work in collaboration with families to develop individualized, comprehensive treatment plans tailored to meet the needs of each student.
Our ABA program adheres to the strict staffing requirements outlined in the Ontario Autism Program, and is led by qualified therapists/supervisors who adhere to the industry standards outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Without receiving proper treatment prior to starting school many children on the spectrum lack the prerequisite skills to transition successfully into the classroom setting. Difficulties with listening, sitting in circle time, following directions, social interaction, play skills, transitioning from a preferred activity and understanding the lessons of the day can severely impact on a child’s ability to learn and benefit from school. Our individualized school readiness programs focus on developing all the key skills that a child needs to help him or her meet their potential and make the most of their valuable time at school.
The process of toilet training, personal hygiene, dressing and grooming is typically instilled in a child’s daily life as they grow. Parents teach children how to complete tasks like going to the bathroom, washing hands, brushing teeth, showering, combing hair, and putting on clothing and shoes in a specific order. Children with ASD typically take more time before they take to making personal hygiene and grooming into a routine.
Our ABA treatment programs focus parent and caregiver training and direct intervention to help children become more independent in using the bathroom, washing, bathing and dressing.
We offer ABA Therapy Services at your child’s home or day care to help & develop the listening, communication, social, academic and fine motor skills for a more successful experience at school. Our goal for each child is to achieve the greatest possible level of independence and success during their day to day life.
Experience the benefits of our Inter-disciplinary team approach. Our goal for each child is to achieve the greatest possible level of independence, comprehension and communication success during daily activities at home, daycare and school. Our ABA team will collaborate with your Speech-language pathologist to help your child speak more clearly and maximize their communication potential.
Evidence based practice shows that therapy provided within the context of the child’s natural learning environment and daily routines where parents can be directly involved is more effective. In-home care provides better and more opportunities for parent and caregiver training, thereby allowing them to reinforce the ABA interventions and increase the chances that the child will maintain the desired behavior.
Numerous studies have found that parental teaching results in more frequent verbalizations, spontaneous speech, and improvement in the social interactions of a child with ASD.
In home therapy has also been shown to have a significant impact on the child’s family, resulting in: reduced parental stress reduced parental depression and increased parental satisfaction with child outcomes. (appliedbehaviouranalysis.org).
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more parents are switching to home based therapy where they can feel confident about their child’s safety. Our therapists offer family focused care and collaborate with parents, teachers and caregivers to help children develop functional skills with special focus on language, communication, social interaction and academic learning.
The health and safety of our clients and therapists is paramount and we are following best practice procedures to ensure that therapy is provided with appropriate measures and protocols in place.
